HPD currently has 38 vacancies for police communications officers and four vacancies for 911 emergency response operators. Ocean Safety has six openings. HFD is the only agency that is fully staffed.

Honokea West Surf Village files first permit for its controversial project
 

Owners of the 19-acre attraction filed a sewer connection application with the city’s planning and permitting department. This permit is to determine if there is or isn’t enough sewer capacity to support the project, which would be the second of its kind in Kalaeloa.

Hawai‘i reports 787 new Covid-19 cases, 8 more deaths
 

The state’s seven-day average of new Covid-19 cases declined to 107 a day, down from 114 a day reported on April 26. The state’s average positivity rate was at 8.0%, about the same as 7.9% reported on April 26.
