Hawai‘i health officials report 2 Covid-related deaths, 1,327 new infections

The new cases bring the total number of local cases since the start of the pandemic to 361,817. The new deaths bring the state’s coronavirus-related death toll to 1,704. Both were kupuna ages 80 and older who lived on O‘ahu and had been hospitalized.

Research shows no-fishing zones benefit both fish and fishermen


New research from the University of Hawaiʻi about the benefits of protected marine areas is receiving international attention. UH economics professor John Lynham noticed fishermen working near Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument found higher catch rates of tuna.
