Health Plan Options

HMSA is here for you in these uncertain and difficult times. We want to help you learn about your options, such as buying a health plan on your own or getting financial assistance.

Affordable Care Act plans

HMSA has Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans that you can buy on your own. You may even be able to get a government subsidy.

Enroll in an ACA plan online1. Be sure to click the green “check for subsidies” box to see if you can get financial help from HealthCare.gov2.

QUEST Integration

Health plans don’t have to come from your job. If you need a health plan, you may be able to get a health plan at no cost with help from the state. This plan can provide temporary solution for individuals and families while we wait for our state economy to get back on track.

Learn how to apply for a QUEST Integration plan3. Or go to the QUEST Integration website 4 if you’re ready to apply.

COBRA through your job

If you recently lost your health plan at work but want to keep it, you may be able to pay for that same plan on your own. Using your COBRA benefit can be a bit pricey. You will have to pay what you normally pay plus your employer’s share.

Learn more about COBRA (or the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) 5. Then, if you still want to look into this option, call your employer for details.

Medicare Advantage plans

If you have Original Medicare, HMSA has a Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan (MAPD) that you can buy on your own.

Apply for an MAPD plan online6.
