HANALEI, Hawaii (KITV4) -- A world-renowned architect is part of the family who purchased the more than 200-acre Hanalei Bison Ranch on Kauai's North Shore.
KITV4 has confirmed that New York architect Richard Meier and his family have purchased about 229 acres, which includes grazing bison, fish and fruit and vegetable gardens.
Meier’s daughter, Ana Meier and her husband, Daniel Creighton, are also part of the purchase.
Meier and Creighton, in a statement to KITV4 News, say they are thrilled to have had the opportunity to purchase such a beautiful property and they hope to be thoughtful stewards of the land.
Neal Norman of Hawaii Life was the listing agent for the Hanalei Bison Ranch property, which includes three built homes, two barns and six additional home sites.
During the historic 2018 flood on Kauai, some of the bison from the flooded ranch were washed down to the Hanalei beach area, as well as other areas on the island’s North Shore. Bison have grazed the Hanalei Valley for decades.
