A little like the old days
First photo: The Upcountry Farmers Market draws a crowd reminiscent of pre-pandemic days on the morning of May 29 at the Kulamalu Town Center in Pukalani, shortly after Gov. David Ige lifted outdoor mask mandates statewide.
Second photo: Lokahi Farm owner and operator Monica Platten (right) sells a carton of potatoes to Lahaina’s John Durkin, who said he and wife Mako enjoy the “fresh, seasonal and delicious” produce offered at the market. “This is the best market on the island,” he said. Platten said that with mask requirements relaxed, smiles had returned to the weekly event. “It’s really nice to see faces,” she said. “Everybody seems really happy.” She said she had her mask ready to put on if a customer arrived wearing one.
