Hawaii State FCU is Offering $40,000 in Grants to Hawaii’s Public School Teachers to Purchase Classroom Supplies

May 6, 2022

HONOLULUHawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU) today announced a call for applications for its 2022 Investing in Education grant program. Hawaii State FCU will distribute $40,000 in grants of up to $500 to eligible Hawaii public school teachers to help purchase supplies, such as books, furniture, electronics, and other classroom necessities. Applications are available now through June 30, 2022.

“We appreciate Hawaii’s public school teachers for everything that they do and we recognize the tremendous sacrifices that they make every day – especially in these last couple of years,” said Andrew Rosen, president and CEO of Hawaii State FCU. “At Hawaii State FCU, we believe it’s important to invest in education. Our teacher grant program not only helps to ease the financial burden for the many teachers who pay for classroom supplies out of their own pocket, it ultimately impacts student learning in a positive way.”

Eligible applicants must submit an application stating the needs of their classroom and how the funds will help them improve student leaning. Grant recipients are selected based on application responses and will be reviewed in the order that they are submitted. Funds will be available through June 30, 2022 or until all funds have been disbursed. Applicants must be a member of Hawaii State FCU and be currently employed with the State of Hawaii Department of Education as a classroom teacher.

Hawaii State FCU’s Investing in Education grant program has been funding Hawaii’s classrooms since 2009 and have dispersed more than 750 grants with a total value of more than $350,000.
