Police arrest suspect in alleged arson at Supreme Court building

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The man suspected of setting fire at the Hawaii Supreme Court building has been arrested, authorities said.

Officials said the 53-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of first-degree arson Tuesday around 7 p.m. on Queen Street — just a few hundred feet away from the Supreme Court building.

Police said he refused to give his name.

The blaze caused about $20,000 in damage.

Investigators are trying to figure out if the same man is also responsible for setting a fire at the state Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Taxation.

HFD said all of the fires were intentionally set.
