Update, 8 p.m.

The commercial warehouse fire in Kakaako this morning has been ruled an accident by the Honolulu Fire Department.

HFD said the fire, which took place at around 1:30 a.m. at 762 and 762A Queen St., was caused by an “inadvertently turned on appliance used to melt surfboard wax off a board.” The surfboard caught fire, and the fire spread throughout the rest of the warehouse.
