Preceded by an elaborate ceremony of song and dance at the Blaisdell Center, Governor Josh Green took his oath of office Monday in front of hundreds, including fellow elected officials and other dignitaries.
The theme of the event was "huliau," or turning point in 'olelo Hawai'i, symbolizing a new beginning for Hawai'i with Green as governor.
When asked what his first few months in office would look like, Green said he's determined to actualize the Aloha Stadium.
"That stadium project's important to us, why? because in the next eight to 12 months, we may face some part of a recession and we want to have big projects going, we want to have people employed," Green insisted.
Green's other top priority is grappling with homelessness across the islands.
"I'm gonna work with the mayors all across the state to make sure that they, when they have a place where they'd like to put a kauhale, a homeless village, that they have access to whatever land they need and the resources. There's already $15 million teed up for 'ohana zones," Green added.
Some of Green's other include addressing healthcare disparities, eliminating regressive taxes on food and medicine, and advancing the state towards its renewable energy goals.
