HONOLULU (KHON2) — According to the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Security a male suspect was taken into custody after several suspicious packages were found on Monday, Oct. 3.
JBPHH said at around 5:20 p.m., three suspicious packages were found in the area and Explosive Ordnance Technicians responded to the scene.
By 6 p.m. Naval Criminal Investigative Service took a male suspect in to custody and he was turned over to the Honolulu Police Department.
EOD personnel continued to examine the packages and shortly after 9:30 p.m. the scene was declared safe.
During the investigation, JBPHH security secured traffic in and out of its Borchers gate and the Honolulu Police Department closed off parts of Kamehameha Highway near the scene.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed between Salt Lake Boulevard and Radford Drive.

Honolulu police said the 32-year-old male was transported to a medical facility and had not been arrested as of Tuesday morning.
