As our community embraces in-person celebrations once again, the Honolulu Museum of Art has opened its doors in the evenings, offering an oasis of world-class art, entertainment and public programming. HoMA Nights is held every Friday and Saturday until 9pm with safe, engaging ways to explore the galleries, stargaze in the courtyards, enjoy live art experiences and music, and connect with each other.

“We learned from the pandemic that creative endeavors like seeing, learning about and making art in-person are not just ‘nice to haves’—they’re fundamentally critical to our wellbeing,” said HoMA’s Chief Communications Officer Kevin Imanaka. “We’ve created an evening experience designed to allow families, friends, and couples looking for the ideal date night to enjoy each other’s company against a backdrop of some of the most incredible art and architecture in Hawai‘i.”

The HoMA Café and Coffee Bar are open for bar service with a selection of cocktails, beer, wine, non-alcoholic refreshments, and bar bites. The Café hosts performances from some of Hawai‘i’s best up-and-coming musicians every Friday from 5:30–8:30pm, and one-of-a-kind vinyl DJ sets from Aloha Got Soul and Friends on Saturdays from 6–8:30pm. Guests can try something new at drop-in art making sessions, Fridays 5–8pm, held in HoMA’s new outdoor Kīnaʻu Courtyard studio and select galleries. Activities are free with admission, and open to everyone from keiki to kupuna.

“And once a month we invite the community to Movies on the Lawn, where you can lay on the lawn for a family-friendly outdoor film screening in Central Courtyard,” said Imanaka. “Movie nights have been a very popular attraction and it’s always nostalgic to lay out a mat or blanket and watch a classic movie under the stars.”
