UPDATE October 4, 2022 5:30 p.m.:
The FBI confirmed with KITV4: "...a suspicious item was found at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in the evening of October 3, 2022.
The FBI worked with local law enforcement partners to mitigate the situation. FBI personnel were deployed and evaluated that the item was not a threat to public safety. After making that determination, all affected areas were reopened and normal operations resumed shortly thereafter.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time. As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious items that could represent a threat to public safety."
UPDATE 6:56 p.m.:
All baggage claims have reopened and the area has been deemed safe, per Hawaii Police.
UPDATE 6:00 p.m.:
The military asked Honolulu Police for traffic control on Kamehameha Highway and Halawa Drive. Road closures are in effect.
UPDATE 5:20 p.m.: In a statement from the Hawaii Dept. of Public Safety:
"Based on screening and detection of a possible suspicious bag at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, a joint response by the FBI, State Sheriffs and Honolulu Police was initiated and resulted in the evacuation of a portion of the ground level baggage claim at the airport. The situation is being evaluated and mitigated at this time."

HONOLULU (KITV4) -- Areas of the Daniel K. Inouye Airport baggage claim were shut down Monday afternoon after reports of a suspicious bag.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation reports that baggage claims 22-27 are shutdown as of Monday, October 3 around 4:30 p.m. Security protocols have also been initiated.
Gates F1 and F2 are also closed.
Flyers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight updates.
