Lt. Gov. Josh Green and his wife, Jamie, spoke with KITV4 on Thursday to discuss his decision to enter the race to become the next Governor of Hawaii in the 2022 election.
HONOLULU (KITV4) -- There's a new prospect for Governor of Hawaii. Lt. Gov. Josh Green formally announced his campaign, Thursday morning.
Green was elected Lieutenant Governor in 2018, and also previously served in the State House and State Senate from 2004 to 2018.
“I’ll stand up for working people and finally sign into law paid family leave and a true living wage,” Green said. “But above all, I'll do everything I can, every day, to keep us safe and informed, to tell you the truth, and continue to care for Hawaii’s families.”
Green is campaigning against other democrats who have also announced they are running for governor including -- former First Lady Vicky Cayetano and former mayor Kirk Caldwell.
The primary election will be held on Aug. 13, with mail in ballots expected to reach voters several weeks in advance.
