Micah Kāne Shares Effects of the CHANGE Framework and How to Participate

Cheryl Oncea, the Publisher of Hawaii Business Magazine spoke with Micah Kāne, President and CEO of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, and presenting sponsor of the CHANGE Event Series.

In this interview they discuss neighbor island policy changes and initiatives that have resulted from the CHANGE Framework, and Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s partnership with Hawaii Business Magazine. Kāne also shares ways to get involved and engaged with the CHANGE Framework.

The upcoming CHANGE Event on Education will take place on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m.

Hear from educators across the state as they discuss the issues and opportunities Hawai‘i students are facing, including:

  • How schools are teaching students to engage in civil discourse, responsibly consume information and correctly identify fake news.
  • Examples of student-created solutions to Hawaiʻi’s largest challenges, and how that is preparing them for living-wage careers in the islands.
  • The last two school years forced students and teachers to pivot and innovate how they learn/teach. Has that resulted in changes to the grading system?
  • How has the pandemic permanently changed the future of education in Hawaiʻi? Has educational technology increased more innovative styles of teaching, learning and collaboration?
