Hawaii’s cumulative COVID-19 case count surpassed 26,000 Tuesday, as Hawaii health officials reported 64 new cases including 41 on Oahu, 17 on Maui, four on the Big Island, and two Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of Hawaii.

No new fatalities were reported. The state COVID-19 death toll is 410.

Hawaii is currently in phase 1b of its vaccine rollout plan, which includes seniors 75 and older, first responders and other essential workers.  At least 159,526 doses of vaccine have been administered to date, according to the Department of Health.

Reporting Lag

In Maui County 3.5% of people tested during the past week have been confirmed to have COVID-19. Maui County’s rate of positive tests has been the highest in the state for about two weeks, but case counts in the county have declined since last week.

Statewide, 2.1% of people tested during the past week have been confirmed to have COVID-19.

Approximately 74 people are hospitalized for COVID-19, with 19 people in intensive care units and 15 using ventilators.
