The Hawai‘i County Council will consider closing a stub-street at Ka‘eka Street in North Kona to reduce loitering, drinking and other unseemly behavior.
Resolution 478-22 authorizes the temporary closure of the southern roadway stub-out, which are portions of a street used as an extension to an adjacent property that may be developed in the future.
The street is west of Palani Road, north of Ane Keohokālole Highway and Manawalea Street.

The Public Works and Mass Transit Committee recommended 7-0 on Tuesday, Aug. 16 that the County Council approve the measure when it takes up the issue.
The temporary closure would reduce loitering, littering, consumption of alcohol, and other illegal activities in this area until such time as the council, by resolution, authorizes its reopening, police and public works stated.
The measure will likely go before the council in September.
