Health officials reported 124 new COVID-19 cases statewide on Tuesday, including 74 on Oahu, 21 on Maui, 12 on the Big Island, one on Kauai, and 16 state residents diagnosed out of state.
To date, 22,168 people in Hawaii have been diagnosed with COVID-19, including 1,642 in the past two weeks.
The nationwide COVID-19 death toll surpassed 350,000 on Sunday, with more than 20.5 million coronavirus cases confirmed, according to Johns Hopkins University.
On Oahu, 4.5% of people tested during the last week for COVID-19 have been confirmed to be infected. On average, 103 new infections were confirmed daily on Oahu last week. In Maui County, 2.3% of people tested last week had positive results, with an average of 25 new cases reported daily. Hawaii County’s testing positivity rate is 2.2% and Kauai County’s is 0.8%.
The official state death toll from the virus remained at 289. Civil Beat calculates at least 294 people have died from the disease in Hawaii, including five deaths on Hawaii island that are still pending medical verification by the state.
